Contribution of Tongue Diagnosis in Cold-induced Febrile Disease to the Formation of the Concept of Greasy Fur
|
Abstract:
This study was aimed to discuss the relationship of tongue diagnosis in cold-induced febrile disease and the formation of greasy fur. By reading 46 typhoid tongue medical case books, cases with slippery fur and greasy fur tongue diagnosis records were extracted. Meanwhile, cases had been searched in the Chinese Medical Classics CD with keywords of "greasy fur". These cases had been chronologically arranged for further analysis. The results showed that the records of slippery fur in the typhoid tongue diagnosis cases showed a decreasing trend, while the greasy fur records had an obvious growth. And the earliest record of greasy fur can be traced back to Shang Han Lun Tiao Bian by Fang Youzhi in the Ming dynasty. It was concluded that greasy fur was originated from the slippery fur. And this achievement came from the study of typhoid tongue. At the same time, the inner relation of typhoid tongue and warm disease tongue was revealed.
