Interfering Mechanism of Magnetic Field in Dry-sliding Tribological Properties of Mutual Pairs CuZn-Aluminum Alloy
|
Abstract:
The influence of DC magnetic field on dry-sliding friction and wear characteristics of mutual pairs of diamagnetic (CuZn alloy) and paramagnetic (2A02-Al alloy) materials has been studied by use of an improved MPV-1500 type friction and wear tester under a load of 150 N and a sliding velocity of 0.4 m/s at room temperature. The results show, exerting and increasing of a magnetic field aggravated the wear of diamagnetic CuZn and reduced wear of paramagnetic aluminum alloy, friction coefficient of mutual friction pairs (CuZn/aluminum alloy, aluminum alloy/CuZn) showed the trend of increasing. Additions to ferromagnetic materials on the back of diamagnetic materials can overcome the adverse effects of magnetic field on wear resistance of diamagnetic materials. Both chemical properties of pin-ring specimens and magnetism of clamping device may affect the test results.
