Abstract:

Ignoring adequate correction to the effects of self-demagnetization can lead to misinterpretation of magnetic survey data, thereby reducing the success of magnetic exploration programs. This paper summarizes the magnetic forward modeling and inversion methods of 3D bodies of arbitrary shape with considerations of demagnetization, and reports their advantages and disadvantages. Finally, the further research direction is suggested for the magnetic forward modeling and inversion of arbitrarily-shaped bodies incorporating demagnetization.
