A terrain correction method for lunar gravity in the domain of the spherical cap
|
Abstract:
Terrain correction is needed when we do research on the internal structure of the Earth, the Lunar, and Mars by use of satellite gravity measurements, then calculate global Bouguer gravity anomalies. It is effective to carry out terrain correction in spherical coordinates. In this paper, we propose a method of terrain correction in the domain of the spherical cap, and analyze the transformation of different spherical coordinates and the reconstruction of the terrain model that the method involved. Then we conduct a theoretical verification . Based on the CE-1 topographic data and the lunar gravity, the lunar Bouguer gravity anomalies are obtained via our terrain correction method, which are compared with the Tesseroid approach. Furthermore, we analyze the spatial resolution and advantages of our method.
