Effect of Traditional Therapies on Primary Healthcare: Preliminary Study

Objective: This study aims to investigate the health behavior of patients, their time and reason of encounter. Methods: 20 women and 9 males participated in this study. The survey questions with face-to-face interview technique were applied. Analysis was performed on 29 patients. In this study, individuals' complaints when first admitted to whom, when and what problems they applied to physician. If they applied physician and they are using family therapy; what is happening and why they use them, a questionnaire was applied. Results: The distribution of participants by age group 10.3% [three Male (M)] from 18 to 25 year age group, 13.7% percent [two M and two Female (F)] 26 to 35 year age group, 24.1% (seven M) 36-45 year age group, 27.5% (three M, five F) from 46 to 55 year age group, 20.6% (four M, two F) 56-65 year age group and 3.4% (one M) 66 years and older band. Looking at the level of education of participants, of 13.7% percent (n=4) didn’t finish elementary; of 51.7% percent (n=15) were elementary, of 13.7% percent (n=4), were middle’s, of 17.2% percent (n=5) were maturation’s and of 3.4% graduation’s. The majority of respondents (86.3%) stated that they didn’t use only physician’s recommended treatment. There is no statistically significant difference between men and women (p=0.636) to comply or not comply their physician’s recommendations. 34.4% of respondents do not only apply their physicians’ recommendations stated that they have used family therapy. Using family therapy in terms of, there is no significant difference between women and men (p=0.661). Conclusion: 52% of patients receiving conventional treatment stated that they have not declared it to their family physicians. 50% of the patients who have used traditional therapy were also used of CAM.
