Das ganze Werk in einem Netz? Bibliographie online verfügbarer Humboldt-Digitalisate

Article in German. Abstracts in German, English and Spanish. The existing bibliographies by Horst Fiedler, Ulrike Leitner and Ingo Schwarz are an essential tool for any research done on Alexander von Humboldt, especially given the fact that his works are so difficult to correctly follow up in their order of publication. Yet, what has been lacking so far is a tool that provides a systematically organized access to the digital facsimiles of Humboldt's works on the internet. It is the goal of this publication to provide a first jumpstart on this undertaking. Following the numerical order of the Fiedler/Leitner bibliography, this article sums up 140 titles of works published by Humboldt as separate books. In the near future, this project is supposed to be continued and increased as a permament service on the new site avhumboldt.de - Alexander von Humboldt Informationen online, which has been online since June 2009, aiming at providing digital access to the works of a man, who always emphasized the need for a wider and thus, more democratic distribution of knowledge.
