Movimento estudantil no Rio de Janeiro nos Anos 60 : educa o, política e cultura na Faculdade Nacional de Filosofia

The article discusses the student movement in the city of Rio de Janeiro in the 60s and its performance in the Faculdade Nacional de Filosofia (National Faculty of Philosophy), of the former University of Brazil (now Federal University of Rio de Janeiro). Built in 1939 as a model of the university project of the Estado Novo in Brazil, the Faculdade Nacional de Filosofia was responsible for the formation of numerous scientists and progressive teachers and a significant focus of student protest in the period studied. In a time period from the late ‘50s until the year 1968, the text presents the activities of students within the institution and its political and cultural activities in the local context, and intends to expose two theses: how the performance of the students marked the profile of the institution and how the performance of the students was marked by the appreciation of culture as a privileged terrain of action.
