ive volume ahname-i Al-i Osman written by Arifi is an important work of the Kanuni Sultan Süleyman period. The fifth volume entitled Süleymanname and the paintings inside this work are visual documents that effectively relay the period of Kanuni. In this work, the caftan depictions in Süleymanname paintings are studied. The caftans in Süleymanname have been examined by drawing analogies with those that have survived until today paying regard to the Ottoman political andsocio-cultural life.
