Assessment and comparison between three lines of rats in four genotoxicity assayKeywords: Genotoxicity assays , rats of both sexes , spontaneous and induced frequency Abstract: The aim of this letter to the editor was to communicate our results of this study when evaluating and to compare the spontaneous and induced indexes with cyclophosphamide in rats of both sexes of Sprague Dawley, Lewis and Wistar lines by means of alkaline comet assay, micronucleus and cromosomal aberrations in bone marrow cells and sperm head morphology assay. We obtained as a result that the Sprague Dawley line in both sexes differs significantly with the other lines where they met lower spontaneous indexes and the highest induced indexes with cyclophosphamide as mutagen. This study will allow to use the best line of rats as biomodelo in genotoxicity and antigenotoxicity assay of natural products, drugs, vaccine and others products. Also to impel rational designs of the experiments and with it to the decrease in the number of experimentation animals, fulfilling this way the principle of the three “R”.
