A Study on the Problems faced by Physical Education Teachers in their Profession (An Application of K r ehir Province)

Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to identify the problems faced by physical education teachers, who work in K rsehir province and its districts, in their day-to-day working in terms of problems faced in relation to School Management, problems in relation to the School and physical conditions, problems in relation to the training received by Teachers, problems in relation to the Students and their families, and problems that lead to stress. The focus group of the study consists of 84 Physical education teachers who work in K rsehir and its districts during 2011-2012 school year. Within the scope of the study, “Problem screening" scale, which is developed by Do anay (2006) was used as a tool for data collection, the alpha reliability coefficient of the scale is 71. A package program was used in analyzing the data obtained through the study and 0.05 significance level stood out with regard to relation and differences among variables. In consequence of the study, the problems faced by gym teachers in their day-to-day working are found to be at an average level at all sub-dimensions according to the average points they got from the scale. According to the sex variable, while the problems relating to School Management sub-dimension appear to have a significant difference, there was no significant relationship at sub-dimensions of problems in relation to School and physical conditions, problems in relation to trainings received by Teachers, problems in relation to Students and their families and problems that lead to stress.
