Abstract:

RAHMATI-AHMADABAD, S. ; GHANBARI-NIAKI, A .; ZARE-KOOKANDEH, N. ; ANSARI-PIRSARAE, Z. Nesfatin-1/nucleobindin-2 and visfatin genes responses to 8 weeks of treadmill running with or without pistachio atlantica liquid extraction in female rat tissue. Brazilian Journal of Biomotricity. v. 6, n. 1, p. 43-52, 2012. Nesfatin-1 is a protein derived from a precursor molecule of the nucleobindin-2 gene that effect on food composition and inhibition of the orexigenic effect of orectic peptide such as visfatin (adipokine, wasrevealed to be associated with obesity and to have insulin mimetic effect). It has been reported that several factors (nutrients, fasting, physical stress) could effect on proteins and peptides gene expression. Pistacia atlantica (Baneh) are plants of Anacardiaceae family that rich in unsaturated fatty acids and has anti oxidative compounds that reduces free radicals. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of eight weeks of aerobic training with and without extract of Pistacia atlantica (6 weeks, 1 mg per 1 g body weight) on nesfatin-1/nucleobindin-2 and visfatin genes of (intestine tissue) female rats. In this study twenty wistar rats (6-8 weeks old and 125-135 g weight) were used. Animals were randomly assigned into Saline-control (SC), Saline-training (ST), and Baneh-control (BC), and Baneh-training (BT). Training groups was given exercise on a motor-driven treadmill at 25 m/min (0% grade) for 60 min/day and 5 days/week for eight weeks. Animals were fed as oral, with Baneh extraction and Saline for four weeks. Nesfatin-1 and visfatin gene expression was detected by Real-time PCR method. Results demonstrated that the exercise trainingeffect on Nesfatin-1/NUCB2 and visfatin expression but weren’t significant. This presented study showed a trend for exercise-induced increase and decrease in intestine expression of nesfatin-1 and visfatin mRNA, respectively. Baneh extraction significantly reduces (P<0.001) and increases (P<0.028) nesfatin-1/NUCB2 and visfatin expression, respectively.
