The Directory of Open Access Journals covers more biomedical open access journals than other databasesDOI: 10.7287/peerj.preprints.717v1 Keywords: DOAJ,Directory of Open Access Journals, databases, open access, literature, biomedicine Abstract: Background: Open access (OA) journals disseminate research papers free of charge to the reader. Traditionally, biomedical researchers use databases like MEDLINE and EMBASE to discover new advances. However, biomedical OA journals might not fulfil such databases’ criteria, hindering dissemination. The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) is a database searchable at article level, focusing exclusively on OA journals.
