Stranded by Literary-Historiographic Discourse or on the Place of Contemporary Croatian Playwriting in the National Literary Canon

Sa？etak Bearing in mind the fact that the literary-historiographic discourse, through its genre system, had a serious responsibility to be a judge or a sort of a literary canon regulator, the paper problematizes its relation to contemporary Croatian playwriting production from 1990 until today. The purpose of the paper is to distinguish the constitution of the place of contemporary Croatian playwriting on the scale of cultural values and to analyze the changes of the genre itself but also of the literary-historiographic and cultural-theoretic discourse about it. The wider sociocultural effects of literary-historiographic discourse will also be interpreted as well as the role of contemporary Croatian playwriting in the national literary canon
