Causes of Internal Migration and Evaluation: Province of Bitlis Example

One of the most important issues that occupy the world is migration. Immigration is a universal problem because it is a common issue for all countries.Immigration, which is expressed as the state of geographical displacement of people, has been a phenomenon that has been going on since centuries. People have faced to migrate because of social, cultural, economic, administrative and environmental factors. Although a small part of the migrations are voluntary, the majority of them usually occur after mandatory cases. Internal migration has increased in Turkey after the year 1950. Especially people living in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions have been observed to migrate towards the west of the country. In this study, it is aimed to reveal and evaluate the elements that cause the local people to leave the lands where they were born and raised. In this context, the province of Bitlis in the Eastern Anatolia Region was taken as a sample. In the study, a questionnaire was conducted with 280 participants who lived in Bitlis province in a certain period of time then migrated.
