A RESEARCH ON THE HOPELESSNESS LEVEL OF OFFENDERS UNDER PROBATIONKeywords: Beck, umutsuzluk, denetimli serbestlik,ko?ullu sal?verme,hükümlü Abstract: The purpose of this study is to examine the hopelessness levels (and the three sub-dimensions) of the offenders under probation until the date of conditional release date in terms of socio-demographic variables and risk factors affecting hopelessness level. For this purpose, 32 prisoners under probation were included in the research. Participants were provided with Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS) consisting of twenty questions and Personal Information Form which includes questions about the risk factors that predict the level of hopelessness. As a result, the hopelessness levels of the offenders were found to be 6.46 ± 3.76 points, and thus they had a "slight" despair. When the relationship between hopelessness levels and socio-demographic characteristics is examined; it was understood that there was a significant relationship between only the level of education and income status and hopelessness level and /or sub-dimensions. In terms of income, middle income people; in terms of education level, the "secondary school" (middle school and high school graduate) educated individuals showed the lowest hopelessness scores. When the results are evaluated in terms of risk factors that may affect the level of despair, it was seen that these factors did not have a predictive effect on the level of hopelessness
