The Types of Reasoning in Nahw

Arabic linguists have set general and comprehensive language rules concerning the whole language. But they weren’t content with this and have discussed the rules which they have set in all its aspects. Especially with the emergence of language schools resulting from differences in method and opinion, the debates on language between linguists have gained intensity and speed. In these discussions, the linguists have developed a variety of ways and methods to establish the correctness of their own opinions and to invalidate the opinions of interlocutors that they found wrong. They also showed different ways of reasoning to explain, to justify the rules and to convince their respondents on controversial language issues. In this study, the several ways of reasoning that linguists frequently use will be discussed by giving various examples
