Secondary School on 6th Grade Students' Pronunciation of WordsKeywords: Türk?e ??retimi,Konu?ma E?itimi,Telffuz Abstract: With the widest definition, language is a system that provides communication between people. Communication is primarily carried out by speaking and listening. Speaking is also a skill area that prepares the student for life. The purpose of speaking skills; to express himself correctly, to transfer emotions and thoughts effectively, to use the language and words to ensure the correct use. In order to use Turkish correctly and effectively, it is necessary to pronounce the words correctly. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the pronunciation of 6th grade students according to standard Turkish. In this study, the case study model which is one of the qualitative research methods is used. The study group is 27th grade students studying in a secondary school in Serik district of Antalya in the 2017-2018 academic year. Students' speeches were recorded by recording with a voice recorder and these data were analyzed by content analysis technique. The rate of pronouncing the words correctly in the classroom speeches of the 6th grade students who participated in the study was 82.55%; the rate of non-standard pronunciation is 17.45%. It is seen that female students are more successful than male students in the pronunciation of words, and the students who have high degrees in Turkish Lessons pronounced more words correctly than the students who have medium or low degrees. It has been determined that the students have the most consonant mutations and dropping a consonant in the context of sound events. It has also been observed that the pronunciations of the pupils reflect the characteristics of the accent from time to time
