THE RHETORIC OF AL-IBHAM AL-BADI’I IN DISGUISING THE MEANING (RHETORIC STUDY IN TERMS OF INTERPRETATION)

This research examines an art of rhetoric in ‘ilm al-badi’i that is called as “al-ibham” (obscurity); that an eloquent speaker (deliberately) says a speech which is understandable in two opposing meanings at the same time, as long as he doesn’t give to the listener a clue that specify a choice of one meaning over the other opposing one. The research studies various verbal styles that are used by an eloquent speaker for building al-ibham, and discusses about the skill of receiving and interpretation of a listener that is aware for eloquence of al-ibham.
