Internet Usage of Elementary School Students in Rural Area Comparison with TUIK Data and Security Review

The use of the Internet is rapidly spreading to individuals. Internet has become indispensable in almost all areas, especially in the field of communication. Sharing information through websites, especially through social media, has become very common, shopping online, banking, education, games, media applications, etc. their operations have become indispensable in everyday life. All of these processes have caused people to share more personal information on the internet and also cause security problems. Due to these problems, children and young people in primary education are exposed to negative situations. In this study, computer and internet usage behaviours of the students who were educated at the second level of primary education in rural areas were determined. Received data are compared with TUIK surveys. A survey study was conducted about the what tools they use to connect to the Internet, their purpose of connection, how long they are connected internally, the security measures they take for connection, sharing with family, family control, etc. The survey was conducted with a total of 103 students, 58 male and 45 female students.
