Abstract:

In this study, the concept of creativity which in many sources counted as one of the skills that students should have in the 21st century and the place of creativity in biology course curriculum has been examined. In this study first of all, the content of P21, one of the sources related to 21st century skills, is explained. Basic definitions of creativity are given. Then, the biology lesson curriculum was examined in terms of the creativity element. Data were collected by document analysis method. In 2018, Republic of Turkey Ministry of National Education prepared biology curriculum for grades 9, 10, 11 and 12. The data collected by this curriculum and Turkey Qualifications Framework document is based. Within the scope of this study, it has been seen that the word “creativity” has never been within the program. However, various phrases and learning outcome explanations have been found to reveal creativity. These outcomes and its explanations were not found sufficient and satisfactory in terms of gaining creativity to students
