Abstract: in the first place the author refers to the first intents in the country to carry out systematic studies of discourse with a clinical or psychosocial approach. then the autor differentiates the different levels of discourse analysis: narrations, acts of speech, words, and their specific value. after that the author mentions the developments of the past two decades regarding natural language research by means of information technology tools, especially dictionaries. then the author refers to an instrument developed for the investigation of wishes in clinical research, which integrates a more comprehensive method, the david liberman (dla) algorithm. to situate the dictionary in the context of the research instruments of the method, the author describes some general features of the concepts and levels of analysis of the method. he refers briefly to studies with the dla of 1) narrated scenes (through the narrations research), 2) scenes deployed in the relationship (through the investigation of acts of speech, paraverbal components and motricity), and 3) words (through the computerized dictionary). then the author presents certain traits of the comparisons between the results of the analyses ensuing from the application of the dla instruments. next the author summarily presents some general features of the dictionary: concepts, number of words, preparation of the material, functions of the dictionary for the analysis of material. after illustrating the different functions of the dictionary, the author refers to some brief examples of its use in clinical research.
