El circo: Un encadenamiento de sentidoDOI: 10.4067/S0718-04622010000200006 Keywords: circus, practices, socialization, mechanical solidarity. Abstract: the principal aim of this investigation was to get to know and to describe the daily life of the members of the family circus "markoning", besides understanding the meaning that its members grant to their daily practices in the context of modernity therefore we raise some generating questions: why, in spite of the difficulties that the circus life pre-sents, these persons choose it while knowing they will be facing diverse difficulties? can the circus be considered a community that one organizes around strong links of mechanical cohesion? to answer these questions we use a methodological approach of the qualitative type that attempts an individual and situational reconstruction of the differ-ent aspects that constitute life in the circus. the principal findings can be seen in the daily practice that in the circus takes the form of socialization. this process is the principal mechanism by means of which the circus is preserved, as well as its practices and therefore its structure. this is seen as manifested in a singular tone, due to the strong belief that the circus exists and will continue to exist if its members support certain practices and the "love" of it, as well as the hope that there will always be "children" who want to be present at its spectacle.
