Abstract: between september of 2000 and january of 2001, 55 specimens of pink cusk-eel, genypterus brasiliensis regan, 1903 were captured from the coastal of the state of rio de janeiro, brazil (aprox. 21-23° s, 41-45° w), and necropsied to study their cucullanid nematode. all fishes were parasitized for cucullanus genypteri sardella, navone & timi, 1997. a total of 1312 parasites were collected, with average of 23.8/fish. the cucullanid nematode of g. brasiliensis showed a typical pattern of distribution. cucullanus genypteri showed an increase in abundance in relation to the host size. the sex of host did not influence the abundance of c. genypteri.
